Do I have to have a mortgage to take this Cover?
In general you do not need to have a mortgage to be eligible for an accident, sickness and unemployment (ASU) policies. Some Insurance Companies will offer to Cover a percentage of your monthly income instead of a particular mortgage payment.
How ever if you do have a rent or a mortgage payment to make each month, the Insurance Company will Cover the payment of this and in some cases it might pay an additional benefit to help you with other costs of living such as bills and other outgoings.
I've just started my new job, is it possible to take out Protection immediately?
It is possible to get immediate Accident, Sickness and Unemployment cover so long as you you went straight from your old job to your new one.
Otherwise if you had a period of time in unemployment between your old and new job, you must wait for six months before a Insurance Company will offer you Protection.
If the time you had off between the two jobs was fairly short, it is well worth speaking to one of are Advisor's who may be able to find you the Cover you need with one of the Insurance Companies.
